Cornwall in Spring
Spring is springing in Cornwall, and while we remain busy with work there's still plenty of time to get out. We've visited a number of places, namely:
Carhay Castle (home of the national Rhododendron and Azalea collection) - which while having beautiful grounds had a very bad feel to the place, and not somewhere we will return to.
Burncoose Nursery - lovely gardens again and lovely plants, we'll be back walking and shopping!
Tehidy Woods - a lovely forest park right on the North Coast.
Trebar Gardens - a joint Cornwall Wildlife Trust day and a return to a lovely garden with a small but well sited beach, another favourite place to visit.
We've also been walking, 8 miles around the Great Flat Lode (complete loop this time), and a 7 mile walk around Loe Pool taking in a new BTO observation study for House Martins.
Below are a number of plant photographs, Cornwall really is stunning in Spring:
This is looking up from Trebah Gardens pool back to the house, with the small beach right behind you:
Some industrial ruins on the Great Flat Lode:
And finally some beasties from around Loe Pool:
It's still early Spring but we're motivated to get leaner, fitter and out and about more, so more to come here too!
