USA 2014 - Big Valley Wildlife Area

After breakfast we drove to the Big Valley Wildlife Area.  As we reached there mid-morning it was already quiet for birds, but was by then butterfly o'clock:

The wildflowers in the higher elevations of Washington State at the start of June are still in their prime where the snow has cleared:

There were some good views across the valley and surrounding mountains:

A Western Wood-pewee hunted in the car park while we waited for our walkers to return:

We had a long drive ahead of us and a later than planned departure so set off for Spokane (pronounced Spokaan apparently), encountering pretty much the only rain of the trip, which given the timing, suited us.  We arrived stiff and tired and after a relatively quick turn-around headed out for a Thai dinner, which was very good.
