25th Wedding Anniversary

Helen and I had a trip to Bhutan booked for our 25th Wedding Anniversary, but given everything we've pushed that back a year. We've been struggling with when and indeed where to visit but given the looming Anniversary decided to visit one of our favourite places in Scotland, Bellochantuy, discovered on a trip with Helen and her three Sisters when we guided them around these parts. The hotel has improved now the guys who run it own it and the food was as good as ever. A lovely spot to be away and watch the weather. The first couple of days was steady rain and strong winds but we got out on our Anniversary. Down at the Southend of the peninsula a Grey Seal watched us taking in the scenery

We stopped in Campbeltown to top up on the local Whisky, one of my favourites. This the harbour under moody skies

Davaar Island enjoyed some brief sun on an otherwise mostly grey day

Back at the hotel we had a wee walk on the beach, this is the remains of a lobster i think, some brains, shell, etc. not a lot left of it...

We enjoyed the change of scenery and pace before heading home, driving up to Tarbert, we stopped to picture the weather on Arran

We took the ferry across to Portavadie. The Kyles of Bute is a very picturesque location on the Cowal peninsula

I tried it in colour but given the skies and the drizzle there wasn't too much despite the stunning autumnal displays

Overhead a skein of geese flew, croaking away

We stopped for refreshments at the Ben More botanic gardens, one of our favourite spots in this part of the world before hurrying home ahead of the next storm. We did get to celebrate our first big Anniversary; not quite where we'd planned but a big thank you to everyone who sent us cards, gifts and indeed their wishes, thank you from us both.
